SCENES FOR SCREEN
Eva-Jane Willis (Gangs of London)
A traditional scene study class that bridges the gap between classical & contemporary play texts and film & TV scripts, proving that good acting on screen is possible with any script and that the same rules apply regardless of text or genre.
From paper to film, this class explores the necessary text work that will elevate any screen performance, paying particular attention to the words on offer and resisting the screen-actor’s urge to alter or personalise the given text. This is an exercise in working with what we have and finding the truth in what we are saying- no matter how challenging.
Week three will be a screen audition and self tape class that looks into the challenge of multiple sight lines, offscreen action and the physical roles with minimal dialogue or reaction based acting. This class is good for all camera preparation but specifically gets the most out of smaller roles and opens up what is happening between the lines.
Eva-Jane trained at Drama Centre London and graduated as first prize winner of The Laurence Olivier bursary award in 2012.
Film & Television credits include: Gangs of London (HBO Cinemax/SkyAtlantic); Humans (Channel 4/AMC/Kudos); Uncle (BBC); and Maigret Sets a Trap (ITV), Only Child (Footprint); Chick Lit (Capriol).
Eva-Jane is soon to appear on screen as series regular Catherine in The Return for Filmcard Motion Pictures; as Claire in Raging Grace for AMC Entertainment, and as series regular Sister Bianca in the upcoming Amazon series The Power.
