musical theatre

Learn from the best that London West End has to offer!

Musical Theatre is arguably one of the hardest practices on stage.
Three hours of dancing, singing and acting is not easy.

You have to consistently work on your voice and body to make sure you are performance ready, eight shows a week.
Your voice and body are your tools for work... so they need to be maintained and encouraged to flourish.

The Actor's Community can offer both one-to-one coaching and classes for all actors who want to improve their vocal skills. Whether you are just starting out, looking to get into drama school, are a recent graduate or a professional actor who is needing to go over audition material, The Actor's Community is here to give you a helping hand.

Want to split the cost with a friend?

If you want to split the cost of a coaching session with a friend, then you can share the Zoom link and train together. They MUST also be a member of The Actor's Community and you must have prior permission from the coach. (Mention on the booking form when signing up for your session)

This offer only applies to coaching sessions.

The Actor’s Community is delighted to announce that Adam Gillian (Hadestown, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, BBC’s Counsel) will lead our online Acting Through Song class during the Covid-19 outbreak.

-Caroline Kane, Ireland

-Kacie Layne Craven, USA

"Just wanted to say a massive thank you for the acting through song course. Genuinely one of the best I've done - online or in person - and really going to miss it! ... the whole structure was brilliant and I've learnt loads in a pretty short space of time - feeling a million times more confident about auditioning."

-Natalie Addis, UK

5 classes with Adam via Zoom.

Only 5 students per class.

Next course available soon.

Please note all sessions are in British Summer Time (BST) 7pm - 9pm.

Each class will look at a specific genre within Musical Theatre including Contemporary, Legit, Rock/Pop and Sondheim. Within these classes, actors are asked to perform a song from their rep with a backing track as accompaniment. Every actor will receive feedback and constructive critique along with re-direction. We’ll be looking at how the music and lyrics can inform your interpretation of the song and how to make those bold choices that will make you stand out.

The final class will look at working each actor’s go-to audition piece for a first-round audition and making sure you get that recall!
These classes are designed for actors over 18 years of age who have acting and singing experience, are auditioning for drama school or have just graduated and want to keep their skills sharp!

It’s also perfect for any classical actors to feel confident with their musical theatre skills if it’s not something they have trained in specifically.

MT DANCE CLASS WITH shannon mcavoy

The Actor’s Community is excited to welcome Shannon McAvoy as an MT Dance coach during the Covid-19 outbreak.

There will be a limited amount of spaces to ensure the ability to receive personal attention and feedback.

You will finish this course with six new pieces of choreography that you are welcome to film and use for showreels and self promotion. You will also leave feeling more confident in your knowledge about musical theatre as a whole and the specific shows we work with.
